The Ministry of Social Services is seeking Childrens Service Workers for our Creighton and Sandy Bay locations. These are drive-in/drive-out positions over a four-week rotation, working 11-hour days Monday to Saturday with scheduled days off. Travel time from home to the work location may be compensated, and staff housing may be provided.
We are looking for individuals committed to improving the lives and well-being of children and families. You will provide protective, preventative, and support services using the P.R.I.D.E. and Family Centered Case Management models. Responsibilities include casework and permanency planning, assessing and implementing case plans, and ensuring childrens physical, social, cultural, psychological, and educational needs are met. You will manage placements, collaborate with First Nations Child and Family Service agencies, and maintain strong relationships with families, foster caregivers, and community partners.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate critical thinking, sound judgment, and decision-making skills, and have knowledge of multicultural beliefs and values, with emphasis on First Nations and Metis. Understanding poverty and systemic issues, advocating for clients, and promoting well-being are essential. Strong communication and teamwork skills are required.
To qualify, you must have a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university (approved by SASW/CASW or CASWE); OR a Human Service Degree plus relevant experience; OR a Social Work Certificate plus relevant experience. Human Service Degrees include Sociology, Psychology, Education, Human Justice, Indigenous Studies, or Nursing. A valid Saskatchewan drivers license is required, as travel and flexible hours are part of the role.
