Description

The Youth Mentor/Life Skills Coach provides direct mentorship, life skills development, and advocacy to youth referred by the Ministry of Social Services. Guided by the Team Lead and reporting to the Executive Director, this role fosters youth well-being through relationship building, guidance, and skill development. The Mentor ensures services are trauma-informed, culturally respectful, and documented in alignment with Eagle Heart Centres mission, vision, and universal competencies.

Commitment to EHCs mission, vision, and values; strong cultural safety and trauma-informed practice.
Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act, youth protection, and related legislation.
Awareness of domestic violence, addictions, mental health, and developmental stages affecting youth.
Ability to establish positive mentoring relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Strong organizational skills with accountability for caseload, scheduling, and deadlines.
Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, youth-focused environment.
Flexibility, reliability, and adaptability, including availability for evenings/weekends when required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare detailed reports.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and organizational databases for scheduling and documentation.
Current Criminal Record Check (with vulnerable sector) and CPR/First Aid certification.
Valid drivers licence and a drivers abstract.
