Description

Schedule: MondayFriday (9am5pm) + weekly on-call rotation
QBOW Child & Family Services Inc. is an Indigenous agency serving the communities of Beardys & Okemasis, Standing Buffalo, Wahpeton, and Wood Mountain First Nations. We support children, youth, families, and Elders through culturally grounded, community-driven services that strengthen connection, stability, and healing.
Position Summary:
The House Parent ensures the daily operations and routines of the Emergency Home while creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for children and youth in care. This includes meal planning and preparation, household organization, scheduling appointments, supporting life skills development, and maintaining a consistent, culturally grounded home environment. Children may present with trauma, emotional dysregulation, or higher behavioral needs, requiring patience, stability, and strong relationship skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain daily routines and schedules
Prepare meals and manage groceries/supplies
Support children with chores, cooking, and life skills
Keep the home clean, organized, and safe
Schedule/attend medical, school, and therapy appointments
Support extracurricular and cultural activities
Complete documentation, logs, and incident reports
Participate in meetings and on-call rotation
Requirements:
Certificate or diploma in Early Childhood Care, Human Services, Social Work, Indigenous Social Work, Community Services, or related discipline
Class 5 drivers license & reliable vehicle
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
Current First Aid/CPR-C & Food Safety Certificate
Experience supporting children/youth with trauma or behavioral needs
Strong organization, communication, and teamwork skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
Assets:
Experience working in youth group homes, emergency homes, or child/youth residential care settings
