This position will be primarily responsible for delivering ESL instruction to newcomers with CLB levels 0-4 in the Stage 1 English class.
- facilitates a creative & supportive English Language learning, lessons and activities to newcomer participants with CLB levels 0-4
- deliver basic and important reading, writing, listening & speaking English language skills
- knowledge & understanding of Canadian Benchmark Language levels
- create engaging lesson plans that encourage student participation
- deliver basic digital and financial literacies to the participants
- assist's the program manager in the organization of out of classroom activities & cultural learnings
- Exceptional command of the English language
- Ability to engage students in lessons and activities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Classroom teaching experience to adult and vulnerable learners
- manages classroom supplies and materials
- assistance in the program's quarterly reports & evaluation
- facilitates other out of classroom activities, field trips for additional hands-on learning of the participants
**Education and Experience:
-Must have Certification in Teaching English as a Second Language, plus experience delivering instruction or programming to immigrant/ newcomer clients, and or willing to obtain one within a year of employment;
-A Bachelor of Education, Social Science Degree, or other University Degree or comparable combination of ESL experience and training would
also be appropriate
- Knowledge in and Able to navigate online platform, in case of Online Teaching Classes (if needed)
- Knowledge of CLB levels
**Required Licenses and/or Certificates:
-CERTESL Certification, TESL or related certification
-Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) certification no criminal record (Includes Vulnerable Sector Search) must be done within last three months.
