The District of Lakeland No. 521 is seeking a dedicated and professional Municipal Enforcement Officer to join our team. This position is responsible for enforcing municipal bylaws, responding to complaints, conducting patrols, promoting public safety, and providing education and awareness programs within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
-Patrol the municipality to ensure safety and bylaw compliance
-Respond to citizen and business complaints, investigate incidents, and enforce bylaws
-Issue tickets, orders, and prepare documentation for court proceedings
-Provide public education programs to schools, organizations, and community groups
-Assist RCMP and other agencies when required
-Carry out animal control duties including capture and impoundment
-Prepare reports, maintain records, and participate in bylaw reviews and budget planning
Qualifications:
-High school diploma or GED
-Valid Class 5 drivers licence with a clean driving record
-Clear Police Record and Vulnerable Sector check
-Strong communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and public speaking skills
-Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Strong ethics, discretion, and organizational skills
Preferred Assets:
-Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in a related field
-3-5 years experience in law enforcement or a related field
-First Aid Certification
-Knowledge of investigations, evidence gathering, emergency response, and crowd/animal control
Work Conditions:
-Driving and outdoor patrols required (municipal vehicle provided)
-Shift work, overtime, and weekend availability as needed
-Exposure to outdoor conditions, hazards, and challenging situations
