Overview:
The Dam Safety Engineer provides professional engineering support for dam safety, including inspections, safety reviews, monitoring, documentation, and technical oversight. This role supports emergency management, operations, maintenance, and infrastructure teams while ensuring all engineering work meets professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform dam safety inspections, assessments, and internal reviews.
Oversee technical monitoring systems and evaluate dam performance data.
Prepare and review engineering reports, drawings, designs, OMS manuals, and emergency plans.
Support contract administration, prepare service agreements, and review expenditures.
Assist with annual/long-term work plans and provide engineering support to operations and maintenance teams.
Participate in dam safety organizations and mentor junior staff when required.
Qualifications:
Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or related discipline).
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed with APEGS.
Ten years of relevant experience.
Skills:
Strong technical knowledge in dam safety, inspections, and risk management.
Ability to work and communicate with internal teams and external consultants and manage contractor performance.
Office-based role with occasional field work.
