Description

AcuFast is looking for a motivated and adaptable individual to join our Reproductive Research & Development team as a Temporary Lab & Reproductive R&D Technician, with the potential to transition into a permanent role. This unique position offers hands-on exposure to both laboratory-based reproductive technologies and animal research activities at our Saskatoon Lab and Elstow research barn (about 35 mins from Saskatoon).

Responsibilities:
Lab Duties:
~Semen quality evaluation & technical manipulation (i.e. Spermatology, Cryopreservation, Cytometry, Embryology, and Karyoflow).
~Media production  produce and evaluate media.
Barn Duties:
~Ensuring proper health, handling, and comfort of animals; i.e.: daily health checks.
~Power washing empty pens and prepping rooms for animal entry.
~Keeping accurate records on all animals as requested; i.e.: pig identification.
~Field research  participate in farm field experiments, manipulating the animals and following the experimental designs with diligence and professionalism.
Additional Duties:
~Follow and enforce applicable SOPs and biosecurity protocols.
~Cleaning and minor maintenance tasks.
~Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience:
~Previous experience working with animals (pig handling considered an asset).
~Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle (required for travel to Elstow).
~Strong adaptability and willingness to learn in both lab and farm environments.
~Ability to follow technical processes with accuracy.
~Positive team-focused attitude with commitment to high standards of care and safety.
~Academic or practical experience in animal science, biology, biotechnology, or a related field is an asset but not required.
