Description

The Program Coordinator will play a key role in developing, implementing, and strengthening animal safekeeping initiatives across Saskatchewan. This position requires an individual who can effectively balance independent work with collaborative engagement, ensuring the effective research, planning, and delivery of program activities.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and Deliver Education
o Create engaging education and training materials for staff in human service and animal welfare organizations.
o Facilitate workshops, presentations, and training sessions on the connection between interpersonal violence and animal abuse, emphasizing the importance of animal safekeeping resources.
Raise Public Awareness
o Plan, implement, and evaluate public awareness campaigns about the link between violence and the need for animal safekeeping.
o Represent the SaskSPCA at public events (e.g., Agribition, conferences) to promote animal safekeeping initiatives.
o Participate in media interviews to inform the public and highlight program efforts.
Support and Strengthen Safekeeping Programs
o Assist organizations in establishing or improving animal safekeeping programs.
o Collaborate with existing programs to share resources, best practices, and support.
o Coordinate the Saskatchewan Co-Sheltering Network and distribute Pet Care Kits.
o Facilitate the Pet Friendly Housing Working Group to expand housing options for individuals with companion animals.
Build and Maintain Resources
o Develop and maintain a database of animal safekeeping resources and ensure timely updates to the Violence Link website.
o Explore opportunities to establish a provincial violence coalition to improve collaboration across sectors.
Reporting and Representation
o Prepare and submit progress reports, as required, detailing outcomes and challenges.
o Represent the SaskSPCA on internal and external committees as assigned.
