Knowledge and skills typically gained through on-the-job experience are required; however, previous experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities or completion of a Special Care Aide Program is an asset. Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills are essential, along with the ability to apply safety protocols, manage conflict, and assist with daily living and life skills. Flexibility for shift work in a 24/7 program and eligibility to operate a ministry vehicle are required. Exposure to behavioral risks may occur; PART training is provided.
Responsibilities include providing person-centered care, supporting daily activities, and maintaining a positive environment in transitional housing and respite programs.
