Description

The Ministry of Highways is committed to providing an integrated transportation system that supports economic growth and prosperity for Saskatchewan citizens. Fleet Operations is seeking a highly motivated Fleet Shop Manager for the Prince Albert shop, one of the ministrys largest equipment repair depots. This role offers the opportunity to lead a team delivering repair, upfitting, fabrication, procurement, and assembly work on the provincial fleet of equipment and vehicles.

We are looking for a candidate with experience managing or supervising in a heavy equipment and truck repair shop. A Journeyperson Technician ticket in Heavy Equipment, Truck and Transport, or Agricultural Machinery Technician trades recognized in Saskatchewan is preferred, along with a valid Saskatchewan drivers license (Class 3A or higher). Strong leadership and management competencies are essential to promote corporate values and maintain a positive culture through exemplary leadership, staff recognition, and accountability.

Key skills include organizing and prioritizing work activities with a focus on safety, monitoring expenditures, assisting with budget development, preparing reports, and implementing administrative policies. You should be able to recruit and select staff, manage inventory, and perform cost/benefit analyses for repair/replacement strategies. Proficiency in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and other software is required, along with problem-solving, customer service, and supervisory skills. A solid understanding of the ministrys core business and ability to forecast staffing needs is critical to ensure efficiency and service levels.
