Description

*** This is a unionized position within the scope of a Collective Agreement between CUPE Local No. 2714 and the Town of Maple Creek. ***

QUALIFICATIONS:

Sixteen years of age or older
Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard  Pool certification
Aquatic Emergency Care certification (CPR C/AED/Standard First Aid)
Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor certification (Instructor Certification Requirement)
Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor certification  (Instructor Certification Requirement)
Current SHA Swimming Pool Operating Course Level 1 certification  (Instructor Certification Requirement)
Minimum of one year lifeguard and/ or aquatic instructor experience
    
DUTIES:    Reporting to the Pool Supervisor (or designate), the Lifeguard and/or Instructor is responsible for carrying out all duties related to effective lifeguarding of facility patrons and/ or for providing effective instruction of established aquatic programs. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with recognized best practices and in full compliance with established legislative and local requirements and obligations.

HOURS OF WORK:     This position follows a flexible schedule and is generally not expected to exceed eight (8) hours per day or forty (40) hours per week. On occasion, pool staff may be required to work beyond these daily or weekly limits. However, over the course of a month, total hours worked must not exceed the monthly equivalent of eight (8) hours per day unless overtime compensation is provided.

LOCATION: The Maple Creek Community Swimming Pool (710 Dawson Street)
