Description

Disability Programs, Crisis and Respite Services Unit provides assessment and stabilization services to individuals with intellectual disabilities, promoting full participation and quality of life in their communities.

McCallum Group Home in Saskatoon seeks caring, compassionate, and enthusiastic Community Residential Workers to support individuals in living life to the fullest. You will create positive, engaging experiences while building trust and strong relationships through collaboration, creativity, and person-centered care. Candidates should be proactive, adaptable, and committed to making meaningful changes in peoples lives.

Ideal candidates are patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental, with strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. You will provide direct support focused on holistic well-being, implement individualized behavior strategies, and apply de-escalation techniques during behavioral escalations. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, fostering independence, transporting individuals, and maintaining safety. Calm decision-making and effective role modeling are essential.

Typically, knowledge and skills are gained through 23 years of post-secondary education in a human services field such as Disability Support Work, Psychology, or Social Work, and/or experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and complex behaviors. Shift work includes days, evenings, and nights in a 24/7 program. A valid drivers license is required. Safety training and thorough onboarding are provided.
