The Ministry of Highways is seeking an Assistant Project Manager based in Saskatoon or Regina. This role independently manages small highway and airport design and construction projects and assists project managers on larger projects. You will provide leadership and expertise to technical staff while organizing and scheduling project activities.
We are looking for candidates with knowledge of road engineering software, supervisory skills for road construction projects, and strong communication and report-writing abilities. You should understand concepts, principles, standards, practices, materials, and equipment used in highway design, construction, and maintenance, as well as the tendering process, contracts, and application of specifications and standards. Familiarity with field survey practices, electronic survey equipment, and Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety and Labour Regulations is essential. A valid drivers licence is required.
Typically, qualifications include an Applied Sciences and Technology Diploma in Civil Engineering and experience in roadway design and construction projects OR Grade 12 with geometry and trigonometry, departmental training in surveying, asphalt plant and equipment theory, roadway design software, and extensive on-the-job training.
