Duties and responsibilities:
Responsible for successful coordination and performance of day-to-day operations of the Plant Maintenance Department.

Duties include:
-  General contractor performing building repairs and renovation activities for facilities. Coordinates and performs maintenance of buildings and grounds, including various seasonal requirements.
-  Regular inspection and maintenance of heating and cooling units, air compressors, fire & safety equipment.
-  Supervise and monitor Custodial staff daily, including scheduling, training, and attendance approvals.
-  Co-chair of Occupational Health Committee. Primary liaison with Fire and Insurance Inspectors; recommends and undertakes actions to meet directives.
-  Primary responsibility for building security, including building opening and closing. Main contact for Fire and Security service providers in case of emergency.
-  Operation and maintenance of equipment as required, including area/trade-specific equipment, agency vehicles, and personal computer.
-  Manage area invoicing and determine/procure supply needs on a regular basis. Develop and recommend project methods and budgets.

Qualifications:
-  Journeyman certification in a closely related field or equivalent experience.
-  Grade 12 Graduate plus 1-2 years post-secondary training or equivalent.
-  Forklift Certificate.
-  Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
-  Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence.
-  Experience as a general contractor for renovation and building projects. Effective working knowledge of sub-trades and project budgeting is critical to this position.
-  Detailed knowledge of maintenance methods, materials, equipment, and processes; and good working knowledge of trades related to repairs and renovations, upgrading structural, electrical, plumbing & heating.
