Description

The processing engineer will be a key contributor to the design and development of a greenfield uranium mining and processing facility. This role is responsible for supporting process design, evaluating milling and water treatment technologies, and preparing for future commissioning and operational readiness. The successful candidate will bring technical expertise in mineral processing, particularly hydrometallurgy and a strong understanding of uranium extraction methods and regulatory requirements. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the foundational design of a critical resource project with Paladin Canada.
Contribute to the design and development of the uranium processing plant, including process flow diagrams, piping and instruction diagrams, and equipment specifications.
Conduct feasibility studies and process simulations to evaluate different extraction and refining methods (e.g. acid leaching, solvent extraction, ion exchange, water treatment).
Collaborate with engineering consultants, environmental specialists, and project stakeholders to ensure process design aligns with safety, environmental and regulatory standards.
Assist in selecting and sizing processing equipment and systems.
Support permitting and licensing efforts by providing technical documentation and process descriptions.
Participate in HAZOP studies and risk assessments during the design phase.
Plan for commissioning activities, including development of SOPs, training materials, and performance testing protocols.
Stay current with advancements in uranium processing technologies.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in chemical engineering, metallurgical engineering, mineral processing or a related field.
P.Eng. Designation with APEGS.
Strong understanding of uranium extraction processes and Canadian nuclear regulations.
Experience with process modelling software (e.g. METSIM, HSC Chemistry, Aspen Plus).
Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
