Position Summary
The Tree Service Supervisor leads and coordinates tree care crews in the safe and efficient completion of pruning, removals, stump grinding, emergency storm work, and related arboriculture tasks. This role ensures all work is performed according to industry standards, safety regulations, and customer expectations while managing crew schedules, equipment, and job site operations.
Key Responsibilities
Crew Leadership & Job Coordination
Plan, schedule, and supervise daily tree service operations.
Assign work tasks to crew members and ensure proper execution.
Provide on-site guidance, training, and problem-solving as needed.
Conduct job briefings and communicate project goals, hazards, and safety considerations.
Coordinate with customers, estimators, property managers, and municipal representatives.
Tree Care & Arborist Tasks
Oversee and assist in tree pruning, removals, cabling, stump grinding, and debris cleanup.
Determine proper climbing, rigging, and cutting techniques for each job.
Identify tree hazards, disease, and structural issues.
Ensure ANSI A300 and Z133 arboriculture standards are followed.
Safety Management
Enforce company safety policies and OSHA/ANSI safety regulations.
Conduct daily safety meetings and hazard assessments.
Verify proper use of PEP, ropes, saddles, chainsaw, chipper, and aerial lifts.
Respond to and document any incidents, near-misses, or safety concerns.
Equipment & Vehicle Oversight
Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of chainsaw, chipper, stump grinders, bucket trucks, and climbing gear.
Report equipment needs, schedule repairs, and monitor tool inventory.
Verify DOT compliance for vehicles and drivers when applicable.
Administrative & Customer Relations
Complete job logs, work orders, time sheets, and equipment forms.
Communicate with clients regarding project progress and concerns.
Assist with training and onboard of new crew members.
Provide feedback to management on crew
