Description

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safetys Provincial Protective Services (PPS) Branch ensures the protection of people, natural resources, and infrastructure by aligning conservation, highway patrol, SCAN officers, prisoner transport, court security, and community safety under one structure. We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking professional for the position of Deputy Director, SCAN South.

SCAN contributes to community safety by reducing crime and associated risks through investigations and, when necessary, shutting down properties used for illegal activities. Recent amendments to The Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Act allow SCAN to target nuisance properties unfit for habitation that negatively impact health, safety, and economic well-being.

Reporting to the Director of Policing and Investigative Services, you will manage and supervise SCAN South operations, including administrative and investigative processes, staff performance, and compliance with policies. You will develop strategies, implement plans, oversee budgets, approve expenditures, and act as a designated official under relevant legislation. Responsibilities include liaising with law enforcement and public agencies, ensuring training compliance, and maintaining office security.

The ideal candidate has exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills, advanced policing knowledge, and investigative experience in drug, gang, and VICE cases, combined with supervisory experience. Typically, qualifications are obtained through completion of a recognized Canadian Police Academy/College plus significant investigative and managerial experience. Current and former police officers are encouraged to apply.
