The ESL Tutor is responsible for providing Canadian Language Benchmark Stage 1 English Language Training to learners in an individual or small group setting. These services, provided to learners not enrolled in an ESL class, are based on language assessment reports provided by the Program Coordinator or ESL Assessor. Resources and supports for the learner are provided to the tutor as required.
Tutors are not responsible for learner assessments. Rather, they work in conjunction with the Program Coordinator to ensure overall learning objectives are met.

Qualifications:
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
-Ability to assist learners to reach their learning objectives and personal language goals.
-Strong communication skills.
-Accountability and willingness to take initiative.
-Ability to build positive relationships with students, while maintaining professional boundaries.
-Knowledge of ESL.
-Ability to work with individuals in cross-cultural settings.
-Ability to work within a flexible schedule.
-Ability to travel.
-Knowledge in adult education would be an asset.
-Grade 12 diploma.
-A valid class 5 drivers license.
-Educational Assistant Certificate and/or TESL training is an asset.
-Minimum of one-year experience working with immigrants in a collaborative capacity.
-Previous experience tutoring adult learners is an asset.
