The Ministry of Social Services is hiring Income Assistance Workers to support Saskatchewans most vulnerable citizens in meeting basic needs and working toward self-sufficiency. This role offers meaningful work that improves lives and strengthens communities.

The Income Assistance Programs, Service Delivery Branch provides client-centered services to individuals and families facing barriers such as addictions, mental illness, disability, and unemployment. As an Income Assistance Worker, you will meet and engage with clients in person, virtually, and by phone to assess needs, barriers, and goals. You will develop, monitor, and evaluate client plans, collaborate with colleagues and community stakeholders, and mobilize resources to support self-sufficiency. Building positive relationships with service providers, community organizations, and other government agencies is key to success.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, crisis-driven environment with frequent change and multiple priorities. You can organize and present information clearly, remain calm in stressful situations, and work respectfully with clients. Knowledge of human service programs, social issues such as poverty and systemic barriers, and multicultural perspectivesparticularly First Nations and Mtisis essential. Skills in motivational interviewing, budget principles, and computer applications are required. You must understand and apply policy and legislation accurately.

Qualifications are typically obtained through education and/or experience in Human Services fields such as Social Work, Indigenous Social Work, Sociology, Human Justice, or Psychology. A valid drivers license and ability to travel are required.
