The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sports mission is to enhance economic growth and support quality of life by managing the provincial parks system and providing recreation, sport, heritage and cultural opportunities for residents and visitors. The Ministry is currently seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual who is a flexible team player for the position of Park Maintenance Worker for provincial park lands within Duck Mountain Provincial Park. Reporting to the Resource Maintenance Supervisor, this position will be involved in the maintenance program for park operations and supervision of other team members.
The successful candidate will have a Certified Class II Water Distribution and Water Treatment certificate. Consideration may be given to operators who are currently enrolled in Class II Water certification, have completed one of the above training/distribution or treatment and are working towards completing the other. You will have proven supervisory skills managing a crew of 3-5 staff members, assigning work, assessing performance, approving timecards, time off, etc. You will also have proven skills and abilities as it relates to some of the trades, equipment maintenance and operation, plumbing or carpentry skills, and the ability to manage operations around several of these disciplines.
As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will:
- Be responsible for the operation of class II potable water treatment facility and class I wastewater treatment systems.
- Operate and maintain light and heavy equipment as required (skid steer, pay loader, tractors, graders, dump trucks, lawn mowers (and attachments) and others.
- Experience with a variety of hand tools and mechanical work.
- Responsible for grooming and maintaining snowmobile and ski trails using groomers, UTV, snow machines and track setters.
