Suncrest College welcomes applications for the position of Research Student - Cultural Inquiry Intern. This is a part-time (32 hours per week for 15 weeks), term position, based out of our Yorkton - Prystai Way Campus. The term for this position is February 2, 2026 to May 15, 2026.
The Opportunity:
This position is primarily responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Mitacs Business Strategy project as assigned. The Cultural Inquiry Intern will create a resource of cultural groups in Yorkton and area to share with newcomers and other community organizations. The intern will also gather information on how newcomer involvement in cultural organizations affects newcomers interest and willingness to remain in Yorkton and area. The intern will work with the Local Immigration Partnership Coordinator for the East Central Saskatchewan Immigration Partnership at the East Central Newcomer Welcome Centre. The intern will attend meetings with community organizations and meet members of local cultural groups to create a database of cultural groups, as well as talk to community members to gather individual immigration stories from newcomers in Yorkton and area.
Requirements:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is equivalent to the admission to a program offered at Suncrest College.
- Active student with a post-secondary institution or a recent graduate (within the past 12 months).
- The minimum amount of practical, related experience required to perform the duties of this position is less than one year.
- Demonstrated experience working in a cross-cultural environment.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check required.
- Valid Saskatchewan Driver's License.
- Valid work permit for the duration of the internship required.
