Description

Job Summary:
Assist in providing harm reduction services at the centres Safe Consumption Site. Services involve supervision of IV drug use, testing drugs, distributing and educating public on Naloxone use, educating on safer drug use techniques, and providing referrals.
Responsibilities:
Develop rapport and build trust with people who access services.
Provide internal and external referrals to other medical and social services.
Assist Harm Reduction Paramedic with intakes and assessments for people accessing supervised use.
Assist Harm Reduction Paramedic responding to medical emergencies.
Assist with centres general services to public and monitoring of waiting area.
Welcome and greet people entering the centre. Answer phone calls and inquiries.
Maintain hygienic, safe environment by following infection control procedures.
Qualifications:
First Aid with CPR and AED.
Certificate or Diploma in mental health or addictions are considered assets.
Combination of relevant work and lived experience considered equally to education.
Professional Assault Response Training (PART), ASIST, WHIMIS, TLR, TDG certifications are considered assets. (Training is available)
Thorough understanding and commitment to Harm Reduction.
Thorough understanding of and experience working in programs serving clients with complex social needs including homelessness, mental health issues, addictions, and history of trauma.
Knowledge of various social, cultural, mental health and addiction support services available in the city of Regina.
Good judgement, discretion, and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Office 365 proficiency
Preference given to qualified Indigenous candidates who self-identify, under section 48 of The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code.
