The Ministry of Highways offers apprentice mechanic opportunities across the province through its Fleet Services Branch. These roles provide hands-on experience working with Journeyperson technicians on mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance for highway construction and maintenance equipment. Work occurs in both shop and field settings, with some travel and overnight stays possible. The ministry seeks highly motivated individuals who are mechanically inclined and eager to develop their skills in a collaborative environment. Applicants should hold a second, third, or fourth-year apprentice certificate in Truck Transport, Heavy Duty, or Agricultural Technician trades. Those with mechanical pre-employment training may also be considered.
