1. Provide instruction and facilitate interactive practical experiences for students in the Mental Health and Addictions Counselling Diploma program;
2. Knowledgeable in current models/modes of care for those with addictions including motivational interviewing, building trust relationships, pharmacology and psychobiology of addictions, etiology of addictions, trauma informed care, harm reduction, detoxification, family systems, case file management, recovery planning and culturally responsive care;
3. Flexible and responsive to learner needs using appropriate instructional methodologies in a blended learning environment;
4. Manage the virtual learning environment by providing student support and counselling to facilitate student success and an optimal educational experience;
5. Prepare and deliver lessons, assignments, lectures and demonstrations for educational purposes;
6. Evaluate student progress (using exams, assignments, observations, discussion forums, etc.) using the required learning platform (Brightspace);
7. Participate in the development, maintenance and revision of curriculum as required within the learning platform (Brightspace).
8. Regularly maintain and update all curriculum and materials for courses assigned to you;
9. Supervise students in classroom (virtual), residencies/labs, preceptored applied learning in workplaces/clinical settings, etc.;
10. Prioritize a psychologically safe educational setting for all learners;
11. Engage in professional development opportunities to keep current with employer, CCSA/CACCF, and educational requirement; and
12. Must be available for on-site activities held at Sask Polytech campuses. (Travel within Saskatchewan reimbursed).
