As part of the Department of Protective Services, the City of Humboldt is currently seeking to fill one (1) permanent, full-time Community Safety Officer (CSO) position.
Under the direction of the Director of Protective Services, the Community Safety Officer is an appointed Special Constable, leading by example to work collectively, providing presence, and visibility throughout the community. The Community Safety Officer responds to all calls for service from the public. This position enforces municipal bylaws, the provincial acts under their appointment, as well as provides public education and awareness programs and services to
ensure the protection of all residents, property, and employees.
The successful candidate will have a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills. They will also have a strong sense of ethics and ability to handle sensitive situations and private information. They will be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and be able to collaborate with colleague, volunteers, and the public in a positive and practical manner.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of the Saskatchewan Community Safety Officer Course, or a relative field accepted by the City of Humboldt or the ability to obtain this certification
- Ability to maintain a vulnerable sector criminal record check suitable to the employer including passing the RCMP Enhanced Background Screening Checks
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate or ability to obtain
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a satisfactory drivers abstract

- General working hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but will require some variable scheduling including evenings and weekends. The position is primarily based in Humboldt, occasional travel outside the city may be required
