Conexus Arts Centre is seeking an experienced Replacement Head Lighting Technician to support our Lighting Department.

This position works with the Head Lighting Technician, assisting with operations, maintenance, and show execution. When the Permanent Head Lighting Technician is absent, the Replacement Lighting Technician assumes departmental responsibilities and is assigned appropriate assistant support, in accordance with the CBA.

~Key Responsibilities~
Assist with the operation, setup, focusing, and maintenance of all house and production lighting systems
Ensure client and production lighting needs are met safely and professionally
Step in as Acting Head of Lighting during absences, coordinating crew and overseeing lighting calls
Uphold OH&S standards and Conexus Arts Centre policies
Work collaboratively with artists, touring productions, and internal teams

~What You Bring~
Strong working knowledge of theatrical lighting systems
Experience in live performance environments
Ability to lead crews, follow show direction, and communicate technical information clearly
Physical ability to meet the demands of the role, including lifting and working at heights

~Hours & Commitment~
This is a Replacement Department Head position under the IATSE Local 295 CBA. The role includes a guaranteed minimum of 520 hours per year, provided at least 260 hours are worked in each six-month period. The position carries first right of refusal for available lighting work for which the employee is qualified. Hours are scheduled based on event activity and departmental requirements.
