Description

The Public Works Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely operation and maintenance of municipal equipment and infrastructure. The role requires working with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of workmanship and efficiency, and adhering to policies related to safety, quality, cost control, waste reduction, and on-time project delivery.

The position is open to all qualified applicants and is covered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 3003 Collective Agreement.

Duties and Responsibilities    
    Operate town equipment including, but not limited to; trucks, motor grader, backhoe, front-end loader, and street sweeper
    Perform daily equipment maintenance, inspections, and safety checks
    Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas in compliance with OH&S regulations
    Assist with road, sidewalk, alley, cemetery, traffic light, facility, and grounds maintenance
    Handle material loading, unloading, and distribution as required
    Complete jobsite administration duties such as timesheets and daily logs
    Participate in project meetings and assist with scheduling to meet deadlines
    Train and provide direction to junior staff as required
    Perform additional duties as assigned by the Works Manager or designate
