The Ministry of Social Services is seeking Child Protection Workers in Nipawin to provide services under The Child and Family Services Act and The Adoption Act. You will provide protective, preventative, and support services using the Family Centered Case Management Model. Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to work flexible hours, travel, and manage high-stress situations.
Key qualifications include a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university, approved by SASW/CASW or CASWE. Knowledge of child welfare legislation, family dynamics, and cultural awareness is critical. Preference will be given to qualified equity group members who self-declare.
Responsibilities include investigating allegations of neglect or abuse, assessing family functioning, determining risk factors, and implementing intervention plans. You may initiate Family Court proceedings, manage childrens needs in care, and collaborate with First Nations Child and Family Service agencies. Long-term planning for children in care and transporting children and families are also part of this role.
