Description

The Ministry of Social Services, Child & Family Programs, North Service Area, is seeking Emergency Duty Workers/Case Assistants for Creighton/Sandy Bay. As part of our team, you will provide after-hours emergency services on a bi-weekly rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, while also supporting Child Protection units during office hours. You will assist with investigations of children in need of protection, assess abuse and neglect referrals, determine risk factors, and develop safety plans for families in crisis. Additional duties include observing and recording interviews, exploring placement options, making referrals, coordinating case conferences, researching case files, transporting families, and providing emergency aid. Travel, flexible hours, and the ability to lift and carry small children are required.

We are looking for candidates who can work independently, demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills, and have a sincere commitment to building relationships and community. Knowledge of multicultural beliefs and values, particularly First Nations and Mtis, and understanding of poverty and systemic issues are essential. Typically, these skills are obtained through a diploma or degree in a human service-related field and experience in a human service setting. A valid drivers license is required.
