Description

The Town of Mossbank is accepting applications for a Seasonal Public Works Labourer, with the option of a year-round position for interested applicants through a joint Public Works / Rink Caretaker role (not a requirement, but an option if wanted). Our main goal is to hire a seasonal labourer for the town, but if we are not able to attract qualified applicants with a seasonal position, then we will consider adding some or all of the rink caretaker position to this job to provide year-round work.

The successful candidate will train under the direction of the Public Works Manager and assist in the maintenance, operation, and improvement of municipal infrastructure and facilities.

Duties include assisting with:

Streets, lanes, sidewalks, and drainage
Water, sewer, and storm utilities
Parks, cemetery, and recreational facilities (rink, hall, parks, spray park, etc.)
Equipment operation and general maintenance

This position offers strong long-term employment potential for a motivated individual interested in municipal operations and trades-based work.

If the individual is interested in the rink caretaker position as part of the job it would include:

Janitorial Duties (of the entire rink including curling areas, dressing rooms, etc.)
Flooding and scraping the ice
Maintenance of the zamboni
Maintenance and minor repairs of the rink as needed

Qualifications:

Valid Drivers Licence (required)
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Experience operating equipment or performing maintenance is an asset
Grade 12 and/or water & wastewater certification are assets (not required)
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong work ethic and reliability
