Description

The Ministry of Social Services invests in positive outcomes for people in areas of income support, child and family services, supports for persons with disabilities and affordable housing. We work with citizens as they build better lives for themselves through economic independence, strong families, and strong community organizations.

We are looking for dynamic individuals who are devoted to helping others and improving the lives and well-being of children and families to join our team of Child and Caregiver Support Workers in the Nipawin office. In this role, you will provide a range of services designed to provide protective, preventative, and support services to children and their families using the P.R.I.D.E. model and the Family Centered Case Management Model of practice.

In this position, you will:
- Be responsible for casework and resource planning related to a variety of programs for children in care, foster families, and/or extended family caregivers;
- Work effectively and positively to support regional directions that continuously improve or enhance service delivery to children and their families;
- Deliver training or facilitate groups for educational/support purposes;
- Conduct family assessments for prospective adoptive, foster or extended family-based caregivers;
- Facilitate placements, providing post-placement support and maintenance;
- Provide support for caregivers to develop planning in childrens best interests and work to establish the supports required;
- Work with foster parents/caregivers to plan and prepare for the childs return home;
- Act as a liaison and consultant where required, with FNCFS and other community agencies, on matters relating to service delivery for caregivers and decisions regarding children; and
- Complete documentation in accordance with professional standards of practice.
