The Ministry of Social Services is seeking an Assistant Supervisor to join the Child Protection team in Buffalo Narrows. This is a drive-in/drive-out position over a four-week rotation, working 11-hour days (MondaySaturday) with scheduled days off. Travel time from your home location to Buffalo Narrows may be compensated, and staff housing may be provided.
In this role, you will supervise, manage, and implement programs that provide protective, preventative, and support services to children, parents, and foster families using the Family Centred Case Management and P.R.I.D.E. Models of Practice. You will coach and mentor staff, provide leadership and guidance in the absence of the supervisor, assist with service delivery between programs and partner agencies, act as a liaison with First Nations Child and Family Services and community agencies, and represent your unit or region on committees.
The ideal candidate will work effectively with colleagues and caregivers, demonstrate leadership through respect and empowerment, and have knowledge of child abuse, neglect, and domestic violence indicators. Expertise in policy and practice, understanding of multicultural beliefs and valuesparticularly First Nations and Metisand experience with social work theories and supervising professional staff are essential.
To qualify, you must hold a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university approved by SASW/CASW or CASWE, and have several years of experience in Child Protection/Childrens Services and staff supervision. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these requirements in their application.
