Youth & Community Connections Worker  SWIS Worker (Transitional Role)

We are seeking a passionate and skilled professional for a unique transitional role. The successful applicant will begin as a Youth and Community Connections (YCC) Worker and, in April, transition into a Settlement Worker in Schools (SWIS) role. This position supports newcomer children, youth, and families through community-based and school-based settlement services.
Key Responsibilities
Youth & Community Connections Phase (Start  March):
    Support newcomer children and youth through group programming, mentorship, and community engagement
    Collaborate with SWIS staff, schools, and community partners
    Deliver cultural awareness, anti-racism education, and information sessions
    Plan and facilitate youth-focused workshops, activities, and events
    Maintain client files, databases, and funder reporting
SWIS Phase (Beginning April):
    Provide school-based settlement services to newcomer students and families
    Conduct intakes, needs assessments, and develop action plans
    Support school orientation, transitions, and parent engagement
    Deliver cross-cultural and anti-racism education in schools
    Connect families to community resources and supports
Qualifications
    Post-secondary education in Human/Social Services or equivalent experience
    Experience working with children and youth
    Knowledge of education systems and newcomer settlement
    Strong communication, organizational, and cross-cultural skills
    Fluency in an additional language is an asset
    Provide a clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector
    Provide a satisfactory Drivers Abstract
Work Conditions
    Some evening/weekend work may be required
    Reports to the Community & Family Supports Manager
