Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill our Utility Truck Driver position in the branch of Water & Wastewater Department of Operations.  Reporting to the Utilities Supervisor, the Utility Truck Driver is responsible for performing various trucking and knuckle boom crane duties.

The position will also perform the following duties:
-Oversee cargo handling and secure loads
-Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and loaded
-Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous good, knuckle boom carne operator and front end loader certification
-Maneuver trucks in loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew
-Circle check vehicle or equipment before driving or operating ensuring mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order
-Report vehicle and equipment defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to vehicles
-Observe all traffic rules and regulations when traveling to and from work sites
-Communicate effectively with the public, customers and co-workers; Assist in loading and unloading of trucks
-Perform periodic inspections before, during and after delivery ensuring the load is properly fastened down
-Responsible and accountable for knowing, understanding and abiding by the City of Moose Jaw Safety Policy, applicable Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety legislation as well as any other appropriate regulatory standards
-Work in such a way as to not endanger themselves, fellow employees of the general public
-Train others as required
-Work weekends and shift work when required

The ideal candidate will have:
-Maintain a Class 1-A drivers license
-Able to read and comprehend City of Moose Jaw utility plans
-Able to work in confined spaces
-Physical ability to perform heavy manual labour
