Description

The Water Truck Operator is a program support position that is supervised on a regular basis by the Public Works Supervisor with overall accountability to the Director of Lands and Infrastructure. This position is for operating a water delivery truck.  they will be responsible for the following: hauling portable water to residential units situated on Zagime and Shesheep reserve on a scheduled basis; fill out log sheets for delivery and vehicle mileage and servicing records; report maintenance requirements of the holding tanks, perform minor maintenance tasks on vehicle and equipment. Responsible for ensuring compliance and awareness of established policies, procedures, and practices of the band.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Directly responsible for operating a water delivery truck for the purpose of providing consistent water delivery service. Ensuring that portable water is delivered to the designated households on a regular scheduled basis. Maintaining the water hauling log sheet and band vehicle logbook. Follow regular maintenance tasks for vehicle land equipment as per maintenance requirements. Advise the of any major vehicle and or equipment repair. Submit monthly activity report  Advise of maintenance requirements for holding tanks etc., or irregularities in water usage at each respective household that is provided with the water delivery service. Assist the community health nurse and or representative in obtaining water samples and advise of any health and safety issues. Assist in minor maintenance tasks as directed by supervisor to the water treatment plant facility and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS: Posses a class 1 A drivers license and have at least 1 year of practical experience operating, ability to perform minor maintenance task on equipment, able to perform heavy lifting and physical labour during the course of duties. Sound knowledge of how a public works department is operated, Willing to work flexible hours and be on call in case of emergencies.
