Position Summary
The position's primary responsibility is to provide professional task-based English as a Subsequent Language instruction to adult immigrant learners, while increasing their understanding of Canadian local, social, workplace and cultural norms. Language training is conducted in alignment with the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and the progress outcomes are assessed using the Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA) framework. Evaluation of learners, short and long-term instructional planning (lesson and unit planning) and regular reporting are position requirements.
The position requires deep understanding and comprehensive knowledge of second language acquisition, adult education, and ESL teaching methodologies. Strong communication (oral and written), organizational and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-cultural setting.
