Description

The Youth Care Worker provides direct supervision and care to residents, ensuring the safety, security, and effective operation of the residential group home. The role focuses on building positive, therapeutic relationships with youth,supporting individualized care plans, and facilitating successful reintegration into the community.

Duties

Supervise and support residents in the facility and community in a safe, lawful manner.
Build and maintain therapeutic relationships; provide personal, practical, and emotional support.
Plan and participate in programming, life-skills training, and recreational activities.
Support daily living routines, apply age-appropriate guidance, and maintain clear boundaries.
Participate in case planning, document progress, and report changes to the Caseworker.
Manage crisis situations safely; support medication delivery and medical needs.
Complete documentation, incident reports, and logs while maintaining confidentiality.
Perform facility duties (meals, housekeeping, vehicle cleanliness).
Work collaboratively with staff and external partners; follow all policies and procedures.

Working Conditions

Rotational shifts in a residential setting with 20% travel. May involve crisis intervention, emotional stress, physical activity, outdoor exposure, and occasional overtime.

Qualifications

2-year post-secondary diploma in Social Service Work and/or Childcare (or equivalent).
CPR/First Aid (C); Crisis Intervention certifications (or willingness to obtain).
Valid Driver Licence; ASIST and Food Handling preferred.
Minimum 1 year related residential experience; youth experience preferred.
Strong communication, de-escalation, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
