The Academic Chair provides strategic and operational leadership for nursing programs within the Leslie and Irene Dub School of Nursing. This role ensures highquality academic delivery, supportive learning environments, and strong connections with industry and community partners.
Key Highlights of the Role
- Provide academic leadership and ensure program integrity, curriculum quality, and compliance with academic standards and qualityassurance frameworks.
- Oversee accreditation cycles, program reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure consistent, highquality student experiences across the full learner lifecycle, including recruitment, orientation, retention, and graduation.
- Manage operational functions such as scheduling, workload planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Support and develop faculty and staff through mentorship, coaching, performance management, and professional development.
- Foster inclusive, equitable learning and working environments aligned with institutional values.
- Serve as the primary liaison with internal teams, external partners, government agencies, industry, clinical partners, and accrediting bodies.
- Lead strategic planning, forecasting, and longterm academic and workforce program development.
- Drive innovation in teaching, program delivery, applied research, and community engagement.
- Represent the School at provincial and national committees, conferences, and sector events.
- Coordinate Program Advisory Committees and maintain strong external relationships.
- Anticipate emerging trends in nursing education and healthcare to inform program and operational planning.
