Role Overview
The Pest Control Officer manages pest populations with a focus on rodent control, especially rat species. Acting
under the authority of The Plant Health Act, this role includes issuing compliance orders and applying safe,
effective control measures. A valid Saskatchewan Applicator License is required.
Key Responsibilities
-Advise residents on effective pest prevention strategies.
-Inspect buildings, outdoor areas, and agricultural sites across the RM for signs of infestation.
-Apply control measures, including pesticides, rodenticides, baiting, and trapping, in compliance with
regulations.
-Issue orders for pest control compliance when necessary.
-Complete and submit Rat Infestation Reports and PCO Inspection Reports as required by the SARM Rat Control Program and the Saskatchewan Government Ministry of Agriculture.
-Maintain a safe work environment by following Occupational Health and Safety standards and best practices.
Education & Qualifications
-Grade 12 diploma required; post-secondary education or agricultural background preferred.
-Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Drivers License with clean abstract.
-Valid Structural and/or Rat Control Applicator License (Pesticide/Rodenticide).
-Strong communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
-Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and think critically.
-Collaborative mindset for effective teamwork.
-Reliable vehicle available for work purposes.
