Description

Position: School Counsellor / Mental Health Therapist
Location: Chief Paskwa Education Centre - Elementary  

Chief Paskwa Education Centre is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Elementary School Counsellor / Mental Health Therapist to join our education team. This role supports the mental, emotional, and social well-being of students by providing counselling, crisis intervention, and mental health programming in a culturally responsive and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group counselling to students.
Offer crisis intervention and short-term therapeutic support.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, Elders, and community partners to support student well-being.
Develop and deliver workshops, programs, and activities that promote mental health and resiliency.
Maintain confidential and accurate case records in accordance with professional standards.
Integrate culturally relevant approaches and First Nations perspectives into counselling practice.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Masters degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
Must be a registered member in good standing with the applicable professional college or association (e.g., Saskatchewan College of Psychologists, Saskatchewan College of Social Workers, Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, etc.).
Experience working with youth in a school setting preferred.
Knowledge of trauma-informed and strength-based approaches.
Understanding of Indigenous culture, history, and the impacts of intergenerational trauma.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Additional Assets:
Experience working in a First Nation community or school.
Ability to speak or understand an Indigenous language.
