Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Fleet Operations Manager, this position is responsible for repair and maintenance of all industrial and automotive fleet equipment.
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance of all City fleet equipment including heavy-duty construction equipment, heavy and light trucks, transit buses, fire trucks, turf and small engines.
- Performs Highway Traffic Board Safety Inspections and related repairs.
- Assists in determining and ordering parts and materials necessary for repair of equipment.
- Provides guidance to staff in areas of maintenance and repair.
- Assists Fleet Committee with short and long term range planning for repair or replacement of City Fleet equipment.
- Follows all O.H.S. Regulations, company safety policies and standard operating procedures.
- Completes work orders, time sheets and other reports promptly and accurately.
- Must take part in weekend on-call rotation when required.
- Must be available for occasional after hours emergency circumstances.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Required - Heavy Duty Journeyperson certification, class 5 driver license
- Proficient in the use of OEM diagnostic software including but not limited to Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, etc.
- Class 3A license would be an asset
- Must possess and maintain R.C.M.P. security clearance.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 7:00am 3:30pm (half hour lunch)
Salary: In accordance with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local #342
