Description

Food Safety & Quality Specialist
As the Food Safety and Quality Specialist, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our food safety and quality systems. This position is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and evaluating the Food Safety Plan, supporting operations, identifying training needs, and ensuring compliance with all applicable food safety, quality, authenticity, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
    Manage and maintain the Food Safety Plan
    Evaluate new equipment for food safety and regulatory compliance
    Maintain food safety prerequisite programs, including writing, verifying, validating, and approving SOPs
    Participate in regulatory, customer, and internal audits
    Assist with traceability programs and processes
    Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and regulatory laws and guidelines
    Schedule and coordinate internal quality and food safety audits (BRCGS)
    Ensure compliance with organic, kosher, halal, and GFSI requirements
Qualifications:
    High school diploma or equivalent required
    Bachelors degree in Food Science or related field and/or 4 years experience in a regulated food manufacturing environment preferred
    Background in Quality Control or Quality Assurance
    Knowledge of GMPs, food safety standards, CFIA regulations, and statistics
    Strong communication, leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills
    Strong PC skills
    PCQI Certification or ability to obtain certification
    Excellent planning, organization, and record-keeping skills
Hours of Work:
8 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Variations in start/end times, weekend work, and occasional travel may be required.
