Description

The Street Worker's Advocacy Project provides services and programs to sexually exploited youth, at risk youth, individuals involved in the street sex trade, and other marginalized individuals.  The majority of our programs and services are offered through a Drop-In Centre which can be a very busy and dynamic environment.  The Administrative Assistant must have good relationship and conflict resolution skills and be comfortable working with individuals who struggle with addiction, homelessness and mental health issues. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for managing a variety of services on behalf of clients and providing administrative support to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.  This includes greeting and directing visitors, answering phones and responding to inquiries, maintaining the daily visitor log, ensuring the general office area and front drop-in area are kept neat and professional; preparing correspondence, reports and other related documents in a professional and timely manner; assisting with planning, organizing, set up and hosting of the Annual General meeting and other SWAP hosted events or celebrations; contributing to the onboarding of new employees by providing information, training, resources and support; creating and maintaining an inventory of office equipment and supplies as well as drop-in supplies and arranging preventative maintenance and repair of office equipment and furniture;  maintaining vehicle maintenance record and arranging regular vehicle maintenance; and maintaining the central filing system that includes paper and/or electronic client and operational files.  The successful candidate must be proficient in working with Excel.
