The Academy of Music is currently searching for the right person to join our admin team in a dual-role capacity, primarily as a front desk administrator, who also holds some retail/store responsibilities. We are music school, as well as an instrument retailer, venue, and community hub. Our admin team organizes and manages all school and lesson operations for our teachers and students, as well as serving our retail client base.
We are looking for a responsible, detail-oriented individual who shares our passion for music and community. Enjoying being around children is critical, and having a musical background is considered an asset.
Our work space oscillates between bustling and high stimulus, and quiet and spacious. Candidates must be comfortable managing multiple tasks in an organized way, and able to self-direct their efforts during the quieter times of the workday.
Job duties include:
-corresponding with potential and existing clients via email, as well as by phone
-booking lessons and managing our instructors schedules in our scheduling software
-managing client accounts including processing payments and communicating and enforcing lesson policies
-cashing out and opening/closing duties
-learning our retail inventory (instruments, accessories, music books, and rentals)
-assisting customers with instrument rentals and purchases
-assisting with keeping the office space, store, washrooms, and staff area tidy
-there is also room to assist with our social media accounts, event-planning, etc
This job is full-time: Monday - Thursday, 1:00pm - 9:00pm, and Saturdays 9:00am - 5:00pm.
The position will start when the right candidate is found; training hours will begin at the end of January 2026. After an initial probation period, the successful candidate will also be eligible to opt-in to our co-pay group health benefits program.
