Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
As the waste disposal technician for Kahkewistahaw First Nation working within the Operations and Maintenance department you are responsible for the proper disposal and transportation of waste materials from the residents and the community buildings of the Kahkewistahaw First Nation. This role will involve problem solving skills and open communication as you will be interacting with all tenants of the Nation to help ensure all waste materials are gathered from locations and transported safely, and accurately. Under the direction of the Operations and Maintenance Manager, the waste disposal technician will be required to work in all weather conditions and be physically fit as the job is physically demanding and requires heavy lifting. Record keeping such as daily logs will be required and will be the responsibility of the waste management technician, to help ensure accurate and efficient waste disposal services are delivered to all the residents of the Kahkewistahaw First Nation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
1. Ability to operate a garbage truck in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injuries to others and to oneself.
2. Ability to lift and carry objects that are 50 pounds (LBS) or more on a continuous basis and in a safe and secure manner.
3. Record keeping of the units and routes that have been completed.
4. Preform any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
2. The suitable candidate must be in excellent physical condition or can lift and carry objects that are 50 lbs or more in a safe and secure manner.
3. A Valid Class 5 Drivers License and Drivers Abstract IS REQUIRED when operating a Kahkewistahaw First Nation vehicle.
