Description

The Ministry of Social Services, North Service Areas, requires Child Protection Workers in the Nipawin office to provide services under The Child and Family Services Act and The Adoption Act. We are seeking individuals committed to improving the lives and safety of children and families through protective, preventative, and support services using the Family Centered Case Management Model.

In this role, you will investigate allegations of neglect, physical or sexual abuse, assess family functioning and risk factors, and implement intervention plans. You will provide support services to families and, when necessary, initiate Family Court proceedings and guide families through the process. For children admitted to care, you will manage their needs, including placement in foster or alternate resources, assessment, and treatment planning to meet health, social, psychological, and educational needs. Long-term care planning may involve collaboration with First Nations Child and Family Service agencies. Travel, flexible hours, and transporting children and parents are required.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong decision-making, risk assessment, and case management skills, along with knowledge of child welfare legislation, family dynamics, and cultural awareness, particularly regarding First Nations and Metis communities.
