SARM is the independent voice of rural Saskatchewan, representing rural municipalities (RMs) and advancing policies that strengthen rural governance, infrastructure, and quality of life across the province.
The Senior Advocacy Advisor is a proactive, strategic role that provides expert policy analysis and government relations support on key rural issues, including healthcare, policing, municipal governance, transportation, infrastructure, and agriculture. The position monitors emerging trends, assesses legislative and regulatory changes, and develops evidence-based policy options and recommendations that align with SARMs mission and rural Saskatchewan priorities.
The successful candidate will synthesize complex information into clear briefing notes, reports, and presentations for SARMs leadership, Board, committees, and members, while building strong relationships with elected officials, public servants, and stakeholders. The role also offers opportunities to mentor staff, represent SARM on committees and consultations, and help lead advocacy strategies and campaigns that influence government decisions affecting rural Saskatchewan. Some travel is involved.
Typically, this position requires postsecondary education in public policy, public administration, political science, economics, business, or a related field, combined with several years of progressively responsible experience in government relations, advocacy, municipal governments or a similar environment. An equivalent combination of education, training, and directly related experience will also be considered.
Competitive compensation is offered in the range of $85,772 to $111,498, with a hybrid work model (subject to departmental need), competitive benefits, and pension. Candidates with additional or specialized skills are strongly encouraged to apply, as compensation may be adjusted to reflect extra qualifications and experience.
