Description

SPRA is looking for an Advocacy Advisor who is curious, collaborative, and comfortable working at the intersection of storytelling, data, and policy. This role plays a pivotal part in communicating the impact of parks and recreation and advocating the value of the industry.

What Youll Do:

Tell compelling stories, using words, data, and visuals, that bring our Strategic Direction to life!
Lead and grow our advocacy and government relations work, to shape how parks and recreation are understood and valued by decision-makers.
Track emerging issues, policy, and legislation and translate what they mean for the industry in clear, practical ways.
Work alongside SPRA staff and recreation providers to co-design stories, evidence, and messages that strengthen our advocacy efforts.
Turn research and data into content that people can understand, connect with, and act on.
Be a natural connector who builds genuine, positive relationships.
Youll Thrive If You Bring:

Education or experience in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or public policy.
At least four years related experience.
Strong organizational skills and a sharp eye for detail.
A high level of comfort using the Microsoft 365 Suite and email marketing and graphic design tools.
Flexibility to adapt to new information and solve unexpected challenges.
A collaborative mindset and genuine enjoyment in working with others.
A demonstrated commitment to inclusive, non-partisan and evidence-based approaches.
Personal values that align with the role parks and recreation play in supporting healthy, connected communities
