The Resident Support Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and wellbeing of residents at Kate?s Place, a residential facility. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, this role provides day-to-day supervision,emotional and practical support, crisis intervention, and assistance with community reintegration. The position supports residents both onsite and in the community while fostering a respectful, safe, and structured environment.
Key responsibilities :
Include supervising residents, conducting bed checks and searches, monitoring activities, documenting daily events and incidents, supporting case plans, facilitating life-skills and group programming, and de-escalatingconflict when required. The role also involves liaising with external partners such as corrections, housing, social services, healthcare providers, and emergency services. Confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to Salvation Army policies are essential.
The role requires rotational shift work in a residential setting and may involve emotionally demanding situations, physical activity, and limited breaks. Occasional travel with residents is required.
Qualifications include high school completion (post-secondary education in Social Service Work or Mental Health & Addictions preferred), CPR/First Aid, ASIST, and willingness to obtain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification.A minimum of 11 months? experience working with marginalized populations in a residential or mental health setting is required.
Compensation: $18.05?$22.56 per hour (up to $27.07 based on experience).
