Description

The Saskatchewan Marshals Service offers an opportunity to support meaningful relationshipbuilding between law enforcement and the diverse communities it serves. As part of its commitment to culturally informed policing, the SMS is seeking a communityminded Cultural Liaison who will help enhance the cultural competency of staff and strengthen partnerships with Indigenous communities and new and diverse Canadians. This role supports respectful engagement, guides culturally responsive practices, and contributes to initiatives that promote trust and understanding across the province.

The ideal candidate brings experience working with diverse and Indigenous communities and demonstrates strong cultural knowledge grounded in lived experience, traditional teachings, or previous work as a cultural facilitator. They are able to respond effectively in highstress situations, support community safety initiatives, and provide insight into Northern Saskatchewan communities. They also understand police recruitment processes and can assist with assessments and applicant engagement. Strong communication, facilitation, and relationshipbuilding abilities are essential, along with an understanding of community structures, political processes, and the challenges and opportunities affecting Indigenous people at multiple levels.

Typical qualifications include a bachelors degree in social work, human justice, Indigenous studies, or another human services discipline, along with relevant policing or communitybased experience. Indigenous language skills and experience in law enforcement settings are considered strong assets.
